Memorial Fountain to be returned to original location on plaza
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Memorial Fountain at Marshall University, which was removed from its foundation and relocated nearly two months ago so a new foundation could be built, will be returned to its original location on the Memorial Student Center plaza on Wednesday, March 26.
A large crane will be used to move the fountain from a temporary platform just east of the plaza, where it has been resting since late January. The move is expected to take place sometime between 10 a.m. and noon, hopefully closer to 10 than noon.
The fountain, which stands more than 13 feet high and weighs 6,500 pounds, was installed in 1972 in honor of the 75 victims of the 1970 Marshall plane crash.
