Sara Mullen

As the director of development for the College of Information Technology and Engineering (CITE) at Marshall University, Sara oversees fundraising, strategic planning and counsel, media relations and marketing for Marshall Foundation and the college. Currently her primary initiative is raising funds for a new engineering laboratory facility and ensuring the continued growth and revitalization of the engineering program.

Mullen’s professional career began with public service in 1994 when she joined the staff of the Missouri State Treasurer managing his public appearances and later as a staff lobbyist. She went o to become a legislative liaison with the Missouri Senate assisting senators with public and media relations, legislative research, speech writing and constituent services.

More recently as a government relations and marketing consultant, Mullen assisted clients in both the public and private sector with message development, lobbying, marketing and website design.

A native of West Virginia, Mullen was born in Charleston and raised in the small rural town of Frame in Kanawha County.

Mullen received her bachelor of science degree from William Woods University.
